Brasseler again receives award for innovation work

Lemgo, 08.05.2023

With the award as TOP 100-Innovator, we once again count among the most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany in 2023. “Innovations are part of our corporate DNA and the key to long-term success,” says Stephan Köhler, spokesman for the management board.

The nationwide TOP 100 innovation competition is based on a scientific selection process and evaluates the innovative strength of medium-sized companies. Of particular importance is whether the company’s innovations are a random result or are systematically planned because in the latter case, future success can be derived from them. To ensure that all applicants have the same chance to win, the seal is awarded in three size categories: up to 50 employees, 51 to 200 and more than 200.

The jury, under the scientific direction of innovation researcher Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke, evaluated Brasseler on the basis of more than 100 criteria from these five categories: Top Management Promoting Innovation, Innovation Climate, Innovative Processes and Organization, External Orientation / Open Innovation, and Innovation Success.

Innovation at Brasseler

Our innovation strategy runs through all company divisions and business processes. It paves the way for successful expansion and achievement of quality and cost leadership in the medical technology sector. We impressed the TOP 100 jury this year with our systematic approach to generating digital innovations for our value creation processes.

“Our goal in the highly regulated environment of medical technology is to make value creation processes as autonomous as possible with the help of digital technologies – efficient, controlled and scalable,” says Stephan Köhler, spokesman for the management board. We are systematically expanding the expert knowledge of our engineers through further training and supplementing it with know-how from network partners, for example in the area of machine learning. In addition, there was an intensive exchange with technical suppliers and universities from the region. “We have deliberately expanded our own expertise in a strategic manner in order to form the greatest possible synergies.”

Digitalization paves the way to autonomous manufacturing

In several value streams, we have already succeeded in running complete shifts without staff supervision, thus ensuring continuous production, even at night or on weekends. In addition, lead times as well as manufacturing and quality costs have been significantly reduced. A large proportion of the machines at the production sites have been networked and collect data in real time. This allows wear or anomalies to be detected, for example, and corrections are made autonomously while the process is running.

“Innovations are firmly anchored in our corporate DNA and are the key to long-term success. The three fields of action of our innovative strength are in the areas of product, digitalization of core processes, and manufacturing technology,” explains Stephan Köhler. “We are overjoyed to have been awarded once again the TOP 100 innovator seal of German medium-sized companies. This confirms the successful development of our company. This award is a recognition of the commitment of all employees.”

The award ceremony was held on June 23 at the TOP 100 Innovation Summit in Augsburg. The award was presented by science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar.
